9.2.08- Fantasia Reveals Reason For Leaving The Color Purple
When Fantasia Barrino left the hit Broadway Musical The Color Purple, all kinds of rumors were swirling around regarding her departure, chief among them that she was pregnant.
She has now revealed that it was a tumor on her throat that caused her to miss several shows and eventually pull out of the show for her own health reasons.
Fantasia told Sister 2 Sister magazine, “I couldn’t get enough sleep and sometimes onstage, I could taste blood… every now and then.
“They (producers) would send me to the hospitals and they would say, ‘Well, she’s dehydrated; that’s what’s making her tired.’ They would put IVs in me. But it just wasn’t enough.”
Eventually a top Los Angeles doctor put a camera down her throat and discovered the tumor.
She’s healthy again, but is still hurt by all of the bad press she received for leaving the show.

Well…she has learned that one minute they love you, and the next they will pick you apart. It’s amazing how many people were so quick to judge her reason for leaving. I pray her recovery not only physicially but emotionally and that she will get back out there and excel in her next assignment. Good Luck Fantasia.
