10.9.08- Lil’ Kim Being Sued

lilkim150.jpgRecording company Brookland Media is suing Lil’ Kim for $2.5 million, saying that she did not deliver all of the recordings that their contract required.The lawsuit says Brookland contracted with Lil’ Kim this year and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on recordings, equipment and advance payments.

Court papers say the rapper later tried to change the contract and refused to continue recording unless Brookland agreed. The papers say she had recorded only a few tracks toward a new album by the beginning of September.

Brookland wants the court to declare the contract valid and bar Lil’ Kim from recording for another company.

10.9.08- Jim Jones Upset Left Out Of Swag

jimjones150.jpgRapper Jim Jones is apparently upset with T.I., Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z for leaving him out of Swagger Like Us.  He was so upset actually, that he voiced his disdain to Complex magazine.  Here’s what he had to say about T.I.:

I don’t feel like he possesses any swag. Not like that. It’s fabricated. They’re watching other people, then they try and do it. You know people that dress like T.I.? You know people that go out and say let me get a T.I. outfit or do you know people who say “yo, you’re looking like Jim Jones?”

10.8.08- Aubrey O’Day Out Of Danity Kane

Diddy has kicked Aubrey O’Day out of Danity Kane on the last episode of Making The Band 4 after questioning Diddy’s secrecy about a solo career for fellow bandmate Dawn.

Word is that O’Day, as well as D. Woods, both had contracts that officially ended last week.  Looks like O’Day’s won’t be renewed.

10.8.08- Eminem: Best Rapper Alive

The Detroit native beat out New York’s rap king Jay-Z in the Final Round with 69 percent of the votes, crowning him as the people’s choice for the true king of hip hop. The results of the contest are detailed in VIBE’s November 2008 issue hitting newsstands October 21st.

“It’s obviously an honor to have won the fans’ support by being voted the Best Rapper Alive,” says Eminem in response to his victory. “I don’t think that there is any one rapper that is simply the best though. Everyone who was in consideration and many others are the best at certain things, and at what they do. But since Vibe’s offering the distinction, hell yeah I’ll accept!”

10.7.08- Rick Ross Comes Clean

rickross150.jpgRick Ross has finally admitted that the unearthed details of his past are true.  Speaking with Don Diva magazine recently, here’s what Ross had to say:

“I never tried to hide my past! I put my name inside all my CDs. My company has my SS #. I could’ve put a company name…I done been up and I done been down and that’s what make me who I am. I never ratted on a nigga! I never prosecuted a nigga! I never locked up a nigga that is first and foremost. I always felt that me being the nigga I am, I never owed a nigga an explanation. When I’m making my music and I’m talking about blow, it’s becaue I did it. When I say that I’m rich off of cocaine, it’s because I did it. Those are the street principles that apply.”

9.30.08- Janet Jackson Hospitalized

janethosp150.jpgAccording to TMZ, Janet Jackson has been hospitalized due to an unspecified illness.

Currently touring with her Rock Witchu Tour, Jackson became ill during her soundcheck in Montreal and was rushed to the hospital, states a rep for W&W Public Relations to TMZ.

She is currently being monitored, but as yet, no further information has been given about her illness.

This comes just a few days after she had to call of a show in Detroit due to what was termed “production constraints.”

9.29.08- Jay-Z Sued For Copyright Infringement

jayzsued150.jpgI Will Not Lose, LLC is the latest company going after Jay-Z, accusing him of stealing their logo for his 2007 Rocawear campaign.

CEO Reggie Tucker claims Rocawear used his ‘I Will Not Lose’ trademarked phrase to promote their clothing line internationally without permission.

Legal papers were filed in Georgia Northern District Court on September 18. I Will Not Lose, LLC is suing for an undisclosed amount of damages and seeking the termination of Rocawear’s use of the slogan. The case will more than likely be settled out of court, but will also result in lots of publicity for I Will Not Lose, LLC.

9.29.08- West Not Facing Felony

Officials in Los Angeles declined to press felony charges against Kanye West concerning the scuffle with a photographer several weeks ago.

He still may possibly face a misdemeanor charge in the incident.

West was arrested on September 11th on suspicion of felony vandalism.  He was released on bond that same day.

9.29.08- Kingston Latest To “Lose” Chain

kingstonchain150.jpgTMZ has reported that Sean Kingston has joined the ranks of those who have lost their chains.

Unlike Yung Berg though, Kingston’s wasn’t snatched from his neck.

The story here is that Kingston’s $500,000 chain was stolen when his sister mailed it to the jeweler.  It was sent FedEx, and the package arrived at the jeweler’s a day late and empty.  Kingston’s sister had also only insured the package for $500.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. is now investigating.

9.25.08- Greatest Hip Hop Song Ever???
