Yung Berg had his Transformers chain jacked this weekend in Detroit when he got into a scuffle at a club with a group of men said to be affiliated with Detroit rapper Trick Trick.  YB was said to have suffered minor cuts and bruises from the incident.

Well, it didn’t take long before a Detroit man started stuntin’ with the chain.  See pic below.

Da Brat, real name Shawntae Harris, was just sentenced to three years in prison and seven years probation for hitting a woman with a rum bottle last October.

The victim, who was an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader, was initially hospitalized and permanently scarred.

Da Brat was convicted in 2001 for misdemeanor reckless conduct.

More legal woes for Yung Joc, real name Jaisel Robinson.  This time the rapper is being hit up on by the mother of his child for back child support payments.

Fatimah Jester is not only taking the missed payment of $2000 to court, but went on Atlanta’s WSB-TV to tearfully plead her case.  According to Jester, “Mr. Robinson has all kinds of cars, Bentleys, Mercedes Benz, Ranger Rovers, Two Range rovers, … The type of money he makes, $2,000 is nothing, I never thought he would be putting me through some of the stuff I’m going through now. I can’t even get in contact with him for things for my baby … it’s just hard.”

A judge is set to hear the child support case for his seven year old son Amoni on September 11th.

Forbes magazine recently released their list of the top 20 moneymakers in the hip hop scene, with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson leading the way with a whopping $150 million!  The following is the Forbes list:

1. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson

$150 million

50 Cent has come a long way from his early days dealing drugs in Queens, N.Y., and getting shot nine times. The reigning king of hip-hop wealth banked $100 million after taxes last summer when his stake in VitaminWater’s parent, Glacéau, was bought by Coca-Cola as part of a $4.1 billion deal. His portfolio also includes the popular G-Unit clothing line and record label, plus films, videogames and a slew of platinum albums, including last year’s Curtis.

2. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter

$82 million

Brooklyn, N.Y.-born Jay-Z had a monster year, releasing a second platinum comeback album, American Gangster, inspired by the movie of the same title. In April he signed a $150 million, 10-year recording, touring and merchandising deal with concert promoter Live Nation and days later married his longtime girlfriend Beyoncé Knowles on the roof of his New York City penthouse. The pink-polo-sporting rapper and producer released his third solo album, Graduation, last September. After handily outselling 50 Cent’s Curtis in a head-to-head opening-week matchup, West’s album went multiplatinum and won four Grammys. West has penned hits for Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and Diddy, among others. Earlier this month, he headlined the music festival Lollapalooza in his native Chicago.

5. Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley

The portly producer has churned out hundreds of tracks for hip-hop’s brightest stars, including all four above him on this list. His most popular hits include Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin’ ” and Ludacris’ “Roll Out.” More recently, Timbaland has produced pop songs for Björk and Madonna. His second solo album, Shock Value, went platinum after its release in 2007.

6. Pharrell Williams

This multifaceted star made his name penning hits for rappers and pop artists alike as part of the production team, the Neptunes. He also fronts the funk-rock band N*E*R*D and is said to be an avid Star Trek fan. A geek with exquisite taste, Williams designs sunglasses for Louis Vuitton and owns apparel lines Ice Cream and Billionaire Boys Club. Esquire named him “the world’s best-dressed man” in 2005.

7. Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean

$17 million

The Bronx, N.Y.-born prodigy got his start as a producer at age 16, penning the catchy “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” for DMX. Since then, he’s piled up a massive production catalog working with other artists. Last year he released his debut solo album, One Man Band Man. He has appeared in ads for the Gap, owns a stake in trendy toy company Kidrobot and is in talks with Telmex to produce cellphone content.

8. Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus

$16 million

Snoop has parlayed a pimpish image into mainstream fame. Once the embodiment of West Coast gangster rap, he revealed a softer side this year in his reality-TV show, Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, where he’s been filmed doing yoga and managing family crises. His ninth album, Ego Trippin’, came out in March.

9. André “Dr. Dre” Young

$15 million

Dr. Dre hasn’t had a hit in years, but he still gets rich on royalties. A founder of seminal rap group N.W.A, he released his multiplatinum solo opus The Chronic in 1992. Dre spent the rest of the 1990s cutting tracks for the likes of Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg; this decade he’s produced songs for 50 Cent and Eminem. Dre also moonlights as an actor, appearing in Set It Off (1996) and Training Day (2001), to name a few.

10. Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges

$14 million

“The Mouth of the South” is known as much for his raunchy lyrics as for his public spats with Bill O’Reilly and Oprah Winfrey. He’s also among rap’s most consistent performers–all five of his solo albums have gone platinum. Ludacris has parlayed his musical success into a number of substantial acting roles, including an appearance in Crash, which won the 2005 Oscar for Best Picture.

11. Clifford “T.I.” Harris

The self-crowned “King of the South” co-founded Grand Hustle Records in 2001 to distribute his mix tapes. Since then, he’s become a cross-platform star. Last year he appeared in American Gangster alongside Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington, and his album T.I. vs. T.I.P. debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. He might have trouble repeating last year’s fiscal success. He was busted for machine gun possession last October but reportedly is working on a new album while under house arrest in Atlanta.

11. Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter

Along with fellow rapper Juvenile, Lil Wayne got his start in the group Hot Boys. He released his first solo album, The Block is Hot, in 1999, and soon became a Billboard charts mainstay. In June the New Orleans-born rhymester released his much-anticipated album Tha Carter III, which went platinum in its opening week.

12. Marshall “Eminem” Mathers

$12 million (tie)

Like his pal Dr. Dre, Eminem is in the midst of a musical dry spell, but he still gets hefty royalties from his ample body of work as a rapper and actor. His 1999 debut album, The Slim Shady LP, has been certified five-times platinum; his follow-up, The Marshall Mathers LP, sold 1.8 million copies in its opening week. Eminem is said to be working on a new album and is slated to star in Paramount Pictures’ Have Gun, Will Travel, a Western remake.

12. Lonnie “Common” Lynn Jr.

$12 million (tie)

Formerly known as Common Sense, the Chicago native is one of hip-hop’s most socially conscious artists. An avid supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns, Common has also spoken out against the use of homophobic rap lyrics. Though he released his debut album in 1992, he gained mainstream fame only with last year’s release of Finding Forever, which was certified gold and nominated for three Grammys. His substantial acting experience includes roles in Smokin’ Aces (2007) and Wanted (2008).

12. Aliaune “Akon” Thiam

$12 million (tie)

After splitting his childhood between Senegal and the U.S., Akon gained mainstream fame with his 2004 hit “Locked Up.” Since then, he has become one of hip-hop’s most versatile artists. He writes, sings, raps and produces; he often sings the backing vocals on his own tracks; and he has made nearly 150 guest appearances on other artists’ songs. His business ventures include a clothing line, an in-the-works reality-TV show and his own Konvict Music imprint, to be distributed by Interscope.

13. Jermaine Dupri

This rapper-turned-super-producer masterminded Usher’s chart-topping Confessions in 2004 and followed it up with Mariah Carey’s monster comeback album, The Emancipation of Mimi. In 2005 he joined Virgin Music as head of its Urban Music division but resigned a year later following the release of fiancee Janet Jackson’s album, 20 Y.O. Now president of Island Def Jam Records, Dupri released his autobiography, Young, Rich and Dangerous: The Making of a Music Mogul, last October.

13. Jonathan “Lil Jon” Smith

The silver-toothed rapper/producer is the self-titled “King of Crunk,” a bass-heavy, club-thumping subgenre of Southern rap. Lil Jon became a radio sensation himself in 2004 with an appearance on Usher’s hit single “Yeah!,” which was punctuated by Lil Jon’s trademark exclamations. That year he partnered with liquor baron Sidney Frank (now deceased) to create the energy drink Crunk Juice. OutKast’s double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which featured the infectious hit “Hey Ya,” has sold over 10 million copies since its 2003 release.

The Houston native, known as the “Mixtape Messiah,” became a household name with the release of “Ridin’ Dirty,” the catchy, Grammy-winning single from his 2005 platinum album, The Sound of Revenge. He also picked up an endorsement deal with Energizer batteries last year.

14. Jayceon “The Game” Taylor

Rapper Master P is changing his moniker to P. Miller to reflect his cleaned up image.  According to Miller, “I’m changing my name because Master P is who I used to be. I call it my childhood and P. Miller marks my manhood. I wouldn’t change my past because it’s groomed me to be the man I am today. People grow mentally and spiritually through life experiences, but when you come from hip-hop it’s almost impossible to move past the stereotypes associated with it. I’ve branched out into so many different arenas that range from being the first African-American to have a clothing line at Wal-Mart, to writing books, and speaking on Capitol Hill, but all that gets overshadowed because I come from the hip-hop industry. There’re a lot of people out there, who are afraid to grow up and change, but I’m not and P. Miller is the evolution of me, Percy Miller the entrepreneur, the business man.”

The cleaner image seems to be paying off.  In July he signed a deal with Wal-Mart to distribute his P. Miller line of clothing.

Contrary to reports that recently surfaced on the internet, Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter, was NOT killed in a car crash last night.Several internet gossip sites reported that news, and Lil Wayne’s MySpace page began to be inundated with comments and condolences. According to a representative from Warner Bros. Records, Lil Wayne’s label, the reports are false and the girl is just fine.

Reginae is Wayne’s child from his first marriage to his high school sweetheart, Antonia “Toya” Johnson.

MediaTakeOut.com has reported that Sean Paul was busted for suspicion of possession of narcotics during a drug sting at the Uppsala Reggae Festival in Sweden on Friday.

Undercover officers instigated a raid when Sean Paul and other artists were spotted smoking marijuana.   Marijuana is illegal in Sweden.

TMZ reports that officers have sent all “evidence” to a lab and should have results in a month.

Kanye will indeed be producing most, if not all, of the album. Remember back in the day when an artist would do a whole album with one producer for cohesiveness? Think classic Snoop or Jeru with Primo… and fast forward it to 2008.

Jay will be leaking the finished version of “Jockin” as soon as he adds a new 3rd verse to the song.

Tracks to look for include the aforementioned “Jockin’ Jay-Z” and a new track entitled “Victory” that the rumor mill says is simply amazing.

Pioneering singer/songwriter/artist Isaac Hayes died today in Memphis according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Hayes was 65.

A family member found Hayes unresponsive near a treadmill and he was pronounced dead about an hour later at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, according to the sheriff’s office. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Hayes is best known for the Oscar-winning “Theme from Shaft.” In more recent years, newer generations came to know him as the voice of Chef on South Park.
