Last night, a fire swept through the pool house of the $2.8 million mansion of Ludacris outside of Atlanta.
Ludacris, real name Christopher Bridges, was out of town at the time of the fire. According to Fulton County Fire Department spokesman Gregory Chambers, a relative was in the basement of the main residence when the fire started and was not injured.
Chambers said the fire was put out within 30 minutes, but the pool house, which is larger than most people’s homes, was completely destroyed.
This weekend, LL Cool J posted a blog on his MySpace page placing the blame for the lackluster sales of his new album squarely on the shoulders of Def Jam.
His new album, Exit 13, hit stores last week and has currently sold only 44,000 copies. He was said to be expecting first week sales in the 300,000 range.
A source close to the record label told MSNBC, “LL is furious. He was so angry at one point that he was beaten by Jessica…he actually threatened to quit rap.” A rep for LL later said “he has no plans to quit now,” and that he’s focusing on celebrating his “sixth consecutive top 10 album in his nearly 25 amazing years in music.”
Jessica Simpson’s first country album was also released last week, selling 65,000 copies and coming in at number 4 on the charts, compared to LL’s 9th place ranking.

Reports have recently surfaced that rapper Nate Dogg, cousin of Snoop Dogg, suffered a stroke at the beginning of the month. This is his second stroke in less than a year.
According to his manager, “He is back in the hospital. He did suffer from a second stroke. He is in stable condition. The prognosis at this time is favorable. We’re positive, prayerful, hopeful and patient.”
This will probably also put a delay his Sept. 24th hearing in Compton, where he’s charged with stalking and threatening his estranged wife.
